The European Union Short Film Festival and Tastes of Europe
European Union Delegation to Canada, the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), and the diplomatic missions of EU Member States presented the 2nd European Union Short Film Festival from May 28th-30th at Club SAW in Ottawa.
The European Union Short Film Festival features an engaging series of 18 short films over three days in a variety of formats including drama, documentary, and animation. All presentations are Ottawa premieres and are presented in their original language with English sub-titles. The festival is accompanied with Tastes of Europe, a short reception-style gathering where a selection of traditional European food and refreshments are available, courtesy of the diplomatic missions of EU Member States. This year's program includes 18 short films of various genres from the Member States of the European Union, including drama, documentary and animated films. The films are presented in their original language with English subtitles.
Slovenia was presented on the first day as the third in a row with a film directed by Dominic Mencej The Springtime Sleep. Other countries represented on the first day were BE, PT, CR, FI, FR and RO. The Head of EUDEL H.E. Marie-Ann Coninsx held an introductory speech. After the movies the audience had an opportunity to talk with the director of the French film Laurent Ardoint.
At the Tastes of Europe Slovenia presented its traditional walnut cake "potica", Cocta and Radenska mineral water. The Film Festival as well as "Tastes of Europe" was widely welcomed by the audience
