European Day of Languages
Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Ottawa participated at the second consecutive European Day of languages, which took place on 26 September in the "Glebe Collegiate Institute." This year the event, which was organized in cooperation with EUNIC / Ottawa, EUDEL in Canada and in partnership with the "Ottawa-Carleton District School Board" involved 19 Embassies.
During the festival, Slovenia was, together with the EUDEL and other participating countries presented at the booth with posters and brochures and also "Gorenjka" chocolate, "Potica" cake and Radenska mineral water. For promotion and communication with over 400 visitors that visited the event we were assisted by volunteers.
The event included series of mini-language classes of the majority of participating countries. Visitors were able to learn 17 different languages, including Slovenian. Learning the Slovenian language took place in two groups, with the assistance of Professor of Linguistics at the University of Toronto Peter Jurgec. At the end, the participants passed a brief language test.
